Port Angeles, Wash. – In its fourth year supporting local firefighters participating in the Seattle Columbia Center Climb, Stevens students and staff collected $621, besting their 2015 total of $502.74, in the “Bring a Dollar” event to add to annual local firefighters’ fundraising-stairclimb efforts to beat cancer.

At yesterday’s school-wide assembly, student organizer Anne Edwards announced this is a special year and that efforts would be broadened internationally to include Stevens’ guests who are currently visiting from Mutsu City, Japan, in the “Bring a Dollar” effort.

At the assembly’s end, dollars were collected by local firefighters.

The goal of Stevens’ staff is to provide an opportunity to teach and show students how to "be a part of something bigger than yourself" and to make a difference in helping those battling leukemia and lymphoma.
